According to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia State Transportation Board chairman Mike Evans and board member David Doss, are calling for the tolls on GA 400 to be eliminated in 2011, when the bond debt is scheduled to be paid in full.

As a frequent GA 400 traveler, I do agree that it would be in the best interest of the people to drop the toll once the road is paid for. The State of Georgia did ultimately drop the tolls on the F.J. Torras Causeway in Glynn County, the original Talmadge Memorial Bridge that was built in the 1950's, and the tolled section of US 80 east of Downtown Savannah, so why not do so with GA 400 in 2011?

I am all for tolls being removed after they have successfully paid for the original highway bonds that were taken for their construction. Kudos to Georgia with following through on that in the past. Too bad Delaware didn't get it while they pickpocket out of staters at $3 a pop for using I-95 there, a road that's bonds were paid off over 20 years ago...

I have been a cruise card holder for many years...(it is the only way to go)...AND I don't mind a measley .50 toll...THAT'S never going to break anybody. I say let them keep the toll ad infinitum BUT with the unwritten condition the cops and the toll authority are NEVER allowed to pursue OR prosecute any odd "toll runner" AFTER the bonds are paid off. Keep your toll but No Tickets, No nothing after the bonds are paid off.
I know I've mistakenly driven a friend's car through the cruise lane just out of habit!
Besides, one could probably win the batlle in court once the bonds were paid off.
